Since the span length of the Saudi Arabia single girder overhead crane is 32 m, our engineers enhanced the design for safety by modifying the connection between the main bridge girder and the end carriages. To achieve the required lifting height, an HD model low headroom hoist was recommended.

The final design solution divided the main bridge girder into three sections, connected by flanges and high-strength bolts. This not only ensured structural reliability but also allowed the crane to be conveniently delivered in a 40-foot container.

The project site is located in the central and western part of Saudi Arabia, where there is a large temperature difference between day and night. The annual temperature ranges from 0 to 45 degrees Celsius, and the area is subject to frequent wind and sand. The gantry crane is mainly used for the production, transportation, storage, and loading of prefabricated wall panels. The project has a tight schedule, and the cranes are used at a relatively high frequency. The net weight (excluding adhesion) of the prefabricated reinforced concrete slabs lifted by the crane is within the range of 3 to 7 tons.

Instead of the truss-type gantry crane design usually adopted in precast factories, we chose a box-structure gantry crane design to meet the special requirements of this project. The lifting capacity was set at 10 tons to fully cover all necessary working conditions. Two of the three cranes were designed to operate on the same rail track, while the third was installed on a separate rail track. To ensure safe operation, additional safety devices were added to prevent interference between the two cranes working on the same track.

We completed and delivered the three gantry cranes to Saudi Arabia as planned. After one month of installation, the cranes were successfully set up and put into operation.
