Electromagnetic Gantry Crane for Scrap Steel Handling
November 28, 2025
Zhongtian Iron & Steel Group has implemented our MG25t double girder electromagnetic gantry crane to achieve intelligent upgrades in scrap steel handling. Featuring core technologies such as electromagnetic lifting, laser positioning, and an intelligent monitoring platform, the crane significantly enhances operational efficiency and safety, providing the steel metallurgical industry with an “efficient, safe, and green” logistics solution. This project advances gantry crane development toward specialization and intelligence, helping enterprises reduce costs and increase productivity.
Zhongtian Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd. Overview
Zhongtian Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd., headquartered in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, was founded in September 2001 and has grown into a major diversified steel conglomerate with annual revenue near RMB 200 billion. The company integrates ironmaking, steelmaking, steel deep‑processing, and modern logistics, while also operating in agriculture, education, real estate, and commerce. Recognized with multiple national and provincial honors, Zhongtian produces a wide range of high‑quality steel products for domestic and export markets, exemplifying a modern, vertically integrated, and innovative steel enterprise.
Electromagnetic Gantry Crane Equipment Overview
To improve scrap steel handling efficiency, Zhongtian Steel introduced the MG25t double girder electromagnetic gantry crane. The electromagnetic gantry crane features a double girder truss structure with a 36 m span and 20 m lifting height. It is equipped with an electromagnetic disk (2.5 m diameter, 15 t lifting capacity) and supports both ground remote control and cabin operation modes. The crane complies with GB/T 3811 crane design standards, holds ISO 12482 safety certification, and is specially adapted for high-temperature, dusty steelmaking environments.
Core Application Scenarios
Scrap Steel Transfer Across Bays
Task: Lift fragmented scrap steel (18 t per bucket) to the steelmaking furnace
Outcome: Electromagnetic grab system (response ≤3 s) combined with intelligent trolley obstacle avoidance increased transfer efficiency by 50% and reduced manual intervention by 80%.
Billet Yard Management
Task: Multi-layer billet stacking and retrieval (3 t per billet)
Outcome: Laser positioning system (accuracy ±10 mm) ensured precise billet placement, improving yard utilization by 40%.
Maintenance Assistance
Task: Lift rollers and bearing housings (12 t per piece)
Outcome: Variable-frequency drive system (lifting speed 0.5–10 m/min) with hydraulic anti-sway improved maintenance safety by 75%.
